Linnell for United States Congress, East County, San Diego
Terri Linnell is a Constitutional Republican, who is leading the fight to return Congress’ Power to the People with your unwavering support. Today the people of our country, in one voice, will say to the politicians all over the country that we, the people, will be heard. We no longer want laws written for the corporations; we want laws written for the people. We no longer want a big, wasteful government; we want our Constitution restored. It’s time our government returns to its roots and returns the power to the people. We are not the government’s resource for money; we are not the government’s children to take care of; we are their boss. Congress destroyed our jobs, it is our duty, to take their jobs.
- Congress neglected their duties, accepted millions in bank lobbyists money, and deregulated the banks which caused this collapse. http://www.govtrack.us/congress/vote.xpd?vote=h1999-570 (See if your Congressman did this to us.)
- Congress accepted bribes by lobbyists, made legal by Congress, returned the favor with earmarks to favored corporations, and created regulations against the people’s individual rights and freedoms.
- Congress bailed out the people’s money sitting in the banks using the people’s money, against the people’s wishes.
- The Senate passed this bank bailout bill through Congress without the vote of the House through unethical and deceptive practices. http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=h110-1424
- Congress then created a ‘shovel ready’ stimulus bill, which was actually a ‘future earmarks’ bill to support the industries they chose, with temporary jobs and temporary projects against the people’s wishes.
- Congress is borrowing money at unheard of rates against the people’s wishes and against the future earnings of our children and grandchildren with unfixed risky loans that the taxpayer’s are liable for.
- Congress is printing money to pay the bills which is causing higher and higher prices the people can’t afford.
- Congress put a freeze on social security to help the government, but that doesn’t help these people against the rising prices the government created.
- Congress is incapable of making real life complete budgets which includes paying off debts permanently and creating a future for our country.
- Congress has regulated and taxed every aspect of the people. We are surrounded by rules, and have lost our freedoms in return.
- Congress failed the people by allowing a city mayor to shut down the people’s businesses and recruited police from many states to oppress American’s rights to freedom of speech and freedom to peacefully assemble during the G20 Summit, including the use of the military weapon, the LRAD. The few permits issued had the resources to get through the court system to demand permits. http://www.youtube.com/user/tree0fmight
- Congress caters to special interest groups to promote such things as affirmative action and prevailing wage with no regard to the burden it puts upon the contractors, and no regard for the quality of craftsmanship.
- Our schools are forced by the Department of Education to teach certain things, in certain ways, even using certain words. No freedom is given for the districts to teach the skills necessary for our children to obtain local jobs in the area. It’s a one size fits all system that is failing.
- Small businesses are being taxed and regulated to the point they can no longer be productive. Laws have been passed and giant regulatory agencies, which are above the laws, with no recourse in court, have grown up around us to control us and snatch away what is most precious to us, our freedoms as Americans.
Senator Grassley (R) Justifies Locking Up American Citizens Without a Trial!
We, the People, have a right to a trial, no exceptions, no excuses. We must stand United as Americans against these injustices by voting them all out, both parties.
None who voted for this deserve to represent us.
Linsey Graham Defends Locking Up Americans w/o a Trial!!!
Why Small Businesses Work Better
Picture four pyramids sitting on the floor making a square on the floor. The square on the floor represents the people those businesses serve. Each pyramid is built with little pyramids, representing the workers and the jobs they hold.
It is natural for businesses to want to grow. For every business which grows, another business shrinks. Constant tension between the pyramids is normal.
Now picture the pyramids have combined into one. Wow! Just look at how much bigger the pyramid is! See all those jobs that have been added? This is called growth and is quite normal for any business. But the flip side to the coin must be examined. Although we now have one big pyramid, what are the unintended consequences?
The pyramid is still only serving the same number of people. To pay all those workers and the higher overhead increases the price of the product. -But with the competition gone what does that matter? Sounds good, but in reality it’s not. Since it’s only serving the same number of people, less people can afford the product, so the base of the pyramid decreases in size.
So the business must look elsewhere to keep expanding. It is normal and a part of life. Eventually the business gets so big, so expensive, it cannot succeed. –But it’s employing 100,000 people! It then petitions the government for help. The government can afford their price. Plus, the government works for the people and doesn’t want 100,000 people to lose their jobs. This, too are normal pressures.
Is it so bad? Is it so wrong to not want to hurt so many people? No. Of course we all feel for this company. Of course we all feel for these workers.
Another result of the big pyramid is the natural pressure the workers put on the company to provide benefits. As the large company decreases its base due to price, it is forced to make things cheaper. Then as more people buy their product, because they can afford it again, there is more profit. They can now pay their workers benefits and are pressured to do so. Now we have cheaper products for the higher price.
This in turn then drives the company to cheaper labor elsewhere. At one time our government used to fine our companies for their actions overseas. The companies didn’t like it and eventually lobbied to remove those restrictions. Hence, the birth of international companies and the natural move by many governments to unite in order to help with these balances.
Is that so bad? Is that so wrong? No. Again, it is natural.
So where did we go wrong? Well. Several items. Lobbying with money is bribery. Bribing our government is wrong. Although in many other countries bribery is part of doing business, it is not acceptable here in America.
The push to deregulate these companies also pushed these companies to expand more. Eventually they got control of the banks. How? Lobbying with money. Money is power, power corrupts absolutely. It is a fact and as natural as can be. Why did it start? Campaigns could be financed better and our elected officials could better keep their jobs. Earmarks were written and votes were bought to help these big companies. It is completely natural, wrong, but natural.
So where do we draw the line? Where do we stop this natural cycle?
Well, although rarely discussed in our Founding Father’s documents, freedom to trade comes with costs. We have these international companies shipping our jobs away naturally. Since they want to keep their ‘people base’ they naturally have lobbied with money for laws to stop others from competing. Now we have a CEO sitting in Japan shutting down plants on American soil and lobbying with money for their companies survival. This must stop. We have foreign govts and big corporations lobbying our govt with money. This must stop. We have large special interest groups lobbying our govt with money against the will of the people. This must stop. We have large groups of workers lobbying our govt with money. This must stop.
Lobbying with money must stop here and now. Earmarks must stop here and now. Our public servants should never be doling OUR money back to us like kings sitting on thrones. Permitting banks to be big and mingling our money in those banks caused the second roaring 20’s.
Sounds painful? A big change? No. It can be done naturally, as natural as it was to get here, it can be fixed just as naturally. Please read my note on Balances Provided in the Constitution.
… and this is why I’m running for Congress. The smaller pyramids work and serve us well.
The Balances Provided in the Constitution
Can we pay 0% income tax? Yes. How? Well, I had to ask myself how the federal government got paid before the madated income tax of 1942? It’s a simple question, but one today where the answer is not clear. We’ve just become so used to it being our duty to pay them, we can’t imagine another time.
There are definitive clear frameworks within our Constitution to provide a check and balance system between our powers. After researching the Constitution and the Federalist Papers I see a check and balance system that’s been removed. Thomas Jefferson wrote: A wise and frugal Government, which shall retrain men from injuring one another, shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned.
Taxes were supposed to be collected by the state governments to pay to the federal government. The people and businesses were taxed indirectly, not directly like now. The states collected the import taxes from other countries, assigned by the federal government.
I really like this framework because it provides a balance. The states controlled the purse-strings of the federal government. Since the states want defended, they want to pay the federal government. Since the federal government wants to be paid, they listen to the states. It also provided a protection against the federal government from being too controlling or too big. The states would not pay them.
So why did we move away from it? Money and power, power corrupts absolutely. Our federal government wanted more power and passed laws to get it.
So what would happen if we return to this system now? Will it cause a massive loss of jobs? No. It would just create a shift, not job loss.
How will the feds get enough money to run, since many of the states are broke and will naturally want to keep more of the money? Import taxes. Currently the federal government has very little import taxes, so money can be brought in there.
Will increased import taxes hurt us? No. It will actually do more to bringing back our jobs. The people will be better able to open up businesses to compete against the imported goods.
Will increased import taxes cause prices to rise? Yes and no. Yes, prices will rise initially, but with more people working there will be more money to go with it and with more competition there will also be a downward push on the prices. In the long run it is the right thing to do for our stability.
Plus, prices are rising due to inflation, and the dollar is being printed 24/7. Due to these irresponsible moves made by out government, our country is in great trouble financially. In both high inflation and deflation scenarios the big international corporations pull out of a country and prefer to import at higher and higher prices. They will lobby our government in an attempt to keep their market share. Again, this is why we must remove the lobbying/earmark cycle discussed previously. By bringing back our jobs we are better prepared.
A Discussion on the Cause and Effects of the Economy
Primary Cause: Constitution says Congress is Solely Responsible of the Value of Our Currency
THE GRAMM-LEACH-BLILEY ACT OF 1999 was Bipartisan http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=s106-900
This is the bill which deregulated the banks, achieved through millions in lobbyists money, and permitted risky industries to co-mingle with our banks. Practically all the safety protections put in place during the Great Depression, which was carefully written so we didn’t have a second roaring 20’s, were removed. –But only if the banks were loaning in risky areas outlined by the CRA Act done years before that the banks were too cautious to enter into. The only protection left for the banks was FDIC to insure our money. The banks really wanted deregulated and all quickly became CRA certified banks in order to get their deregulation. We all remember when banks went from debit only, to debit/credit cards. This is the bill that did it.
A second roaring 20’s quickly started. By 2002 in California the price/wage ratio for housing was completely out of balance and a tsunami sized wave of foreclosures was forming. By 2007 it the housing bubble started to pop. Early in 2008 the foreclosure wave was collapsing our economy and right before the Presidential election it could no longer be covered up. The election was no longer about the war, it was now about the economy and both parties were forced to change their carefully laid out platforms.
I had blogged often in 2007 about how this wave was forming, which would wash upon our shores before the 2008 election. I talked about the bailouts, printing of money, eventual price fixing, and severe inflation that are still to come.
Bailout #1 The First Foreclosure Wave Hits Fannie/Freddie Insurance Companies, Bipartisan Bill
THE HOUSING AND ECONOMIC RECOVERY ACT OF 2008 (Also called the Fannie/Freddie Bailout)http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=h110-3221&tab=votes
This bill was originally passed in the House as the New Direction for Energy Independence, National Security, and Consumer Protection Act in August of 2007. The Senate added the amendment called the Foreclosure Prevention Act in April of 2008 as the economy started to collapse- which bailed out Fannie and Freddie. Whether it was completely rewritten in the Senate is unclear. In May of 2008 the House passed the amendment with changes. It then went back and forth a couple times between the Senate and House until it passed in July of 08. It was signed into law by President Bush.
Bailout #2, Unconstitutional in Nature, Banks are Collapsing, Bipartisan Bill
All revenue bills must be started in the House of Representatives. In both these cases, they started in the House AS OTHER BILLS.
THE BANK BAILOUT BILL
“This is the Senate’s October 2008 Economic Stimulus Relief Bill. This bill was originally introduced in March 2007 and passed the House as the GENETIC INFORMATION NONDISCRIMINATION ACT OF 2008. In October 2008, it was co-opted as the so-called “vehicle” to pass the relief bill with an amendment that REWRITES THE WHOLE BILL. The House’s initial vehicle was H.R. 3997, but they failed to pass their amendment co-opting the bill.” http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=h110-1424
As you can see, the original bill was completely rewritten. We remember the day this bill passed the Senate. McCain and Obama both suspended their campaigns, flew from Florida to DC, to vote YES on this bill. Then it was sent back to the House and passed. President Bush signed this bill.
Bailout #3, Unconstitutional in Nature, More Insurance Woes
THE HEALTHCARE BILL
“This is the Senate’s health care bill, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. The Senate is co-opting this bill as a vehicle for passage of their reform and will change the text of this unrelated bill in whole in the coming weeks. They do this because the Constitution requires all revenue bills to start in the House, and their health reform plan involves revenue. So they have chosen to work off of a bill that started in the House, even if that bill is unrelated.” http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=h111-3590
This was originally the SERVICE MEMBERS HOME OWNERSHIP TAX ACT.
So, I say here and now, this must stop!! Our Congress needs to be help accountable for illegally passing these bills. Both these bills have heavy influence by lobbyists. Both these bills did not in essence originate in the House.
SO WHY AREN’T WE HEARING ABOUT THE CONSTITUTIONAL PROBLEMS WITH THESE BILLS BY OUR PARTIES?? With 90% of our Congress participating in writing earmarks to receive lobbyist’s campaign donations, neither party will scream this very loudly. They are bought and paid for.
Yes, they are currently saying they will stop earmarks, but we know the truth. They say that before every election. They also KNOW their leaders will never put a good anti-corruption bill up for vote.
